My name is Lucy Peart, I am qualified as an Integrative Counsellor and I am an accredited member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am grounded in nature and enjoy growing and eating my own vegetables. I am an animal lover and have cats and chickens. It is in the power of nature and the animal world that I gain the stability and resources to bring into my therapy work. I believe that Nature has the wisdom to assist us in our own path through life.
I have worked as a volunteer counsellor for agencies in Exeter & Newton Abbot. I have been working since 2017 as a Macmillan Counsellor for University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust. My private practice is based Online and on the Telephone. Due to my own personal history, through my work in physiotherapy and as a Macmillan counsellor I have developed a particular interest in talk therapy for those with a disability, chronic illness & life-limiting illness and for those in a caring role.
My initial professional training was as a physiotherapist in 1993. As a physiotherapist, I have worked in community, GP and hospital settings. I currently work part-time as a Physiotherapist for Devon Partnership Trust, Mental Health & Learning Disability Services for Devon. In this role, I am assessing and treating older adults with acute mental health presentations with a broad spectrum of physical health problems. I have a keen understanding of a therapeutically reparative relationship and have developed a holistic approach to the connection of body and mind.
I have 8 years experience of managing different teams of health professionals. During my time in management, I worked to gain a Diploma in Management and a Diploma in Neuro-linguistic Programming which promoted my understanding of team dynamics and proved beneficial in developing highly effective teams. I have acted as a professional mentor and coach in the work environment.
